If you use an app published under the name of your tour operator, the tour operator is responsible for your booking data; HIH Digital Ltd. processes it on the operator's behalf.

2. In short

No advertising, no tracking, no analytics services, no sale or sharing of data with third parties. The app works offline; most of your data never leaves your phone.

3. Booking code and trip data

To show your trip, the app sends your booking code to our server (api.reisen.hihdigital.com, netcup GmbH, Nuremberg, Germany) and downloads itinerary, maps and documents. They are stored on your phone so the app works without signal. Legal basis: performance of your travel contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

4. Usage counters

The app counts which screens and documents are opened (for example “day 3 opened”), linked only to the booking code, without device identifiers, name or location. Tour operators see these counts in aggregate. Legal basis: legitimate interest in improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. Location

With your permission the app uses your location while it is open – to show highlights nearby and your position on the emergency screen. Your location stays on your phone and is not sent to us.

6. Camera and photos

The camera is used to scan the QR code from your travel documents and, if you wish, for photos in your travel diary. Diary entries and photos stay on your phone unless you export or share them yourself.

7. Weather and maps

Weather forecasts for the places on your route are requested via our server from Open-Meteo; your own location is not transmitted. Map tiles come from our own map server.

8. Feedback and messages

Feedback you send voluntarily after the trip is passed to your tour operator. Messages from your tour operator (e.g. road works) are downloaded with your trip; if push notifications are enabled, a technical device token is stored for delivery.

9. Storage and deletion

Data on your phone is deleted when you sign out of the trip or uninstall the app. Server data is deleted when your tour operator deletes the trip, at the latest 12 months after the end of the trip. All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).

10. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. Contact: hello@clovertrip.com or legal@hih-digital.com. You may complain to the Data Protection Commission (Ireland) or your local supervisory authority; in Switzerland the FDPIC (EDÖB).
